Have you got confidence issues?

By Jennifer Hall | Uncategorized

One of the biggest blocks to success is your confidence issues.

When I work with people one to one, it becomes very obvious that on some level they have been sabotaging themselves because they lack confidence in being able to deliver what they’re promising OR too afraid to promise anything substantial due to being unconfident in their abilities and/or out of integrity with the outcomes.
Take Mavis for example (names have been changed for protection purposes although I would love a client named Mavis!) …

-Mavis came to me saying she didn’t know what to call herself as she had recently branched out in a few directions and didn’t know how to pull it all together.
-She had 3 programs, one of which she didn’t feel excited to run again after running it once already because she didn’t feel 100% aligned to the content.
-She was feeling like she wasn’t serving her clients in the best way she could even though she was giving them what they were asking for!
-She was struggling to offer anything in the first place because of a lack of confidence in the outcome she was saying she could help them with and dreaded getting clients even though she really wanted them!

Not the best place to be considering Mavis had an incredible talent and knowledge that could change the trajectory of struggling businesses and she was sitting on untapped gold and charging way below her worth to try and keep her prospects ‘happy’!

It became very apparent that she was trying to teach the things that she thought people would buy rather than what she was actually aligned and qualified to teach!
My first thought was – well done for thinking with a business mindset BUT bad news for your confidence, sales and customer satisfaction!

When it comes to creating a product that sells, yes it’s important to bear in mind what people want, but it’s also important to stay in your lane. It’s not about selling the things that everyone wants to buy or even the things that ‘most’ people want to buy, it’s about selling the thing that you are most ‘qualified’ (I don’t mean paper quals) to help with, to the specific people that want and need it. Including weeding out the numpties who want everything for nothing!

Our session went as follows…

-We set about making a list of all the things that she didn’t like or feel confident to teach and we removed them from the table! Instant confidence boost!
-We set about tightening her niche so that she spoke ONLY to the right people and fine-tuned it so that she felt absolutely amazing to position herself as such because it’s in alignment with HER OWN zone of genius!
-We set about rejigging and aligning her offerings to the RIGHT clients so that her audience knew if those offerings were right for them or not! Instant confidence and clarity boost!
-We set about tweaking her offerings, looked at how we positioned them to her audience plus how they were going to be delivered so that …

a) her prospects desired the packages for what they were designed to achieve. This meant gaining clarity on her ideal clients and defining the big juicy desired outcome that she was at first too scared to offer (until we worked on re-framing her mindset of course)

b) the packages were set to be delivered in the time it takes to get them that result, not the rigid timescales that everyone else’s packages dictated nor the timescales that ‘some people’ wanted or assumed it would take!

c) the packages delivered both wants AND needs, so that they over-delivered and provided them with all the necessary tools to create a successful outcome! Not just delivering the ‘quick magic pill’ that everyone wants that only gives half the answer!

d) they were priced appropriately for the energy expended and results of the packages, instead of delivering a package that cut corners on time and effort so that it could be priced cheaply that only truly spoke to the cheap magic pill hunters, which by the way is your worst nightmare of a client!

Instant confidence, clarity and integrity boost!

Mavis left that intensive session ready to rock her new products and couldn’t wait to deliver to them!

Much better: clear, confident and ready to burst like a firecracker!

Would you like some of that rocket juice?

‘I don’t want to be Smurfette!’ How Hollywood’s gender equality issue is playing out in the field of female experts.

By Jennifer Hall | Uncategorized

There has been a clear pattern in how females are continually being portrayed as sidekicks, support roles, damsels in distress in Hollywood and there are many amazing female role models and female film producers such as Reese Witherspoon, who are trying to change this portrayal of women in the industry and are doing an amazing job.

Today in The Guardian, Steve Rose wrote an excellent article on ‘Why can’t Hollywood accept gender equality?’. To give you some background, here’s a quick snippet…

‘’ It has been a good year for women in cinema in many ways, with a high count of quality female-made and female-led movies…But by some metrics, there’s still a way to go. In particular, the Smurfette Principle. The phrase was coined back in 1991 by US writer Katha Pollitt, who bemoaned the number of films and TV programmes that featured a group with one lone female. “The message is clear,” she wrote, “… boys are central, girls peripheral.” ‘’

But it isn’t just in Hollywood where this issue is prevalent. We’re already aware from all the press and awareness campaigns of late, regarding the gender pay gap where women are paid 18% less, but what’s even more concerning is that in 2012, HMRC reported that women were earning 40% less than men. This is concerning because as much as the employment world has a responsibility to stand for equality, it’s clear from these figures that a large proportion of women are not taking responsibility for their own equality.

On Wednesday of last week, I was a featured speaker at the Maximise Conference in Cheltenham where I’m proud to have won Speaker of the Year for the second year in a row. My talk was aimed at female experts in business to help them remove the label of ‘small business’ and the limits that we impose on ourselves to stand up and own our expertise, earn our worth and achieve business growth.

Each and every woman has a responsibility to work on her own mindset in standing shoulder to shoulder with male and female leaders in their field. As women, we can underrate ourselves, not necessarily against men, but just in general. Lack of confidence has a huge impact on not only the bar we set for ourselves but also in the ability to form trusted relationships with our prospective clients. If we want others to take us seriously and be recognised as valuable, then we must first take ourselves seriously and understand our own value.

The patterns of inequality and how women are portrayed that are reflected in places like Hollywood, the workplace and in the entrepreneurial world will only change when more female individuals own their value. It’s my mission to lead a movement where women own their worth, their expertise and value. Not as a feminist or even as an equal rights activist, but as a woman who believes in her own value. This isn’t about men vs women, this is about individuals standing and owning their expert status and their value regardless of gender. You’re either valuable or you’re not, it has nothing to do with gender.

It’s about time we started to follow suit of strong, highly valued female experts and thought leaders like Mel Robbins, Sheryl Sandberg, Shaa Wasmund and Oprah who know and fully own their worth. It’s time we stood strong as THE expert in our field, instead of under the radar. It’s a change that starts with each and every female and male. Let’s take responsibility for this reflective issue and be the change we wish to see in the world.

So rather than being a Smurfette – a second-hand side-kick, let’s stand shoulder to shoulder as great leaders in our industry.

‘I invested in a coach and it was a waste of time and money!’

By Jennifer Hall | Uncategorized

‘I hired a coach and didn’t get the results I was after, I was disappointed!’

These kinds of comments that I saw last week, seriously inspired me to write this article…

I feel for these people and you if you’re feeling equally let down, particularly if you genuinely had a bad coach (bad defined by the fact that they are only about making money and not about serving their clients!)
However, I suspect that the people that regularly seem to say these statements have pinned their entire success on one coach, on one strategy or on one ‘magic pill’ that they were hoping to swallow and make it all better.

I’ve worked with 4 coaches so far in my time as an entrepreneur and my ‘monetary success’ only started to appear after the fourth coach.
That isn’t because the first three didn’t have what it took, in fact, every single one of my coaches has brought so much gold to my business and success it’s been phenomenal. And I knew they would! How? Because I stalked them beforehand to make sure their free stuff was awesome!

The reason it worked after the 4th is that ‘I’ pieced the three ingredients for success together – Clarity, Strategy and Mindset… I HAD to have all three of these puzzle pieces in place before I could earn REAL money.
It wasn’t anyone’s fault that I didn’t earn that REAL money beforehand, asides from my own! I take FULL responsibility for my success and I NEVER pin it on anyone.
I urge everyone to do the same: 9 times out of 10 it’s not your coaches fault you didn’t get the results!
My first coach touched upon all 3 of those puzzle pieces in the beginning but ‘I’ hadn’t expanded far enough to implement all three.
And this is the thing, be honest with yourself on the areas you are focusing, have you taken action and implemented correctly everything you and your coach agreed to do? And do you need something else as well as the area your current coach is focusing on?

The key is to hire a coach who has the expertise in the area you’re currently struggling with that’s stopping you from moving forward.
The reality is, you may have to invest in several different experts depending on how many areas you’re struggling with.
BUT that’s the point, that’s why we’re the expert so we can help with the specific issue, not touch all the issues lightly and get us no further forward. I had success with every one of my coaches, as with every investment I made giant leaps forward toward my monetary goal.
Let me tell you that if I hadn’t worked with ALL 4 experts I wouldn’t have made where I am today.

Stop blaming others for your lack of success and take control of your destiny!
The only one to blame is you, so dust yourself off, do the work and DO NOT give up! You may or may not need to invest in 4 coaches, but if it meant investing in 4 or give up on your dream… what would you do? Said from a place of LOVE!

‘I just want to change people’s lives! But I can’t unless I get clients!’

By Jennifer Hall | Uncategorized

Is this screaming at you in your head and your heart?
That was what mine was doing about a year ago. I just wanted to coach, so badly but I just couldn’t until I found the alignment. The alignment was what I needed to move forward but I just couldn’t find it.

The thing is, these two truths exist…

  • We will never change anyone’s life unless we become an expert at doing so.
  • We will never change anyone’s life unless they want us too.

So if we are to change anyone’s life they have to want something really badly and we have to be really good at getting them what they want. That means we need to stop selling coaching and start selling the outcome.

To be truly successful in your coaching business you have to be able to answer these three questions with 100% confidence.

  1. What is the burning desire that your ideal client has that they would pay ANYTHING to achieve?
  2. Would you pay yourself for the specific transformation you give?
  3. What transformation can I give my clients that I would bet every last penny they would achieve, provided they put in the work?

The first question determines the strength of your niche and how likely someone is to pay you for your services.
The second question determines your self-worth and your alignment to your passion.
And lastly the third helps you determine how much faith you have in your outcome and abilities.

I’d so love to hear your answers!

Why Is No One Buying?

By Jennifer Hall | Uncategorized

Creating a program is easy, it really is! I’ve created loads! I set my financial goal, I created the program, released them, and you know what, some of them completely flopped!
For me and countless others trying to ‘make it’ in the coaching world, we start off with such high hopes for our programs. You create it, release it into the wild and then wait… wait a bit more and then FEAR kicks in… why is no one buying???
You start to create the exit strategy in your mind- What will I say when no one buys? What am I doing wrong? What can I do to get people on board? What is my husband gonna say? What am I going to tell my friends when they ask how business is going and I haven’t even got a viable product!??
AHHHHHH! OK it’s hide in the toilet and cry time!

The creation of a good program is only a case of solving a problem… that’s it! The conversion rate of your program lies in the strategy and the traffic you drive to your program. The problems arise when you struggle to:

– Understand fully your ideal clients ‘real’ problems,
– Sell it in a way that it speaks to your clients wants not what you know they need,
– Apply action to a strategic launch rather than haphazardly blurting it out here and there,
– Stay in touch with your passion and energy to keep going when things are going as predicted and you don’t sell out on the first day!

BUT lack of FULL clarity on your ideal client can be a real sticking point and can ball up the best of intentions! Without that, you can’t create a program because you don’t know what ‘real’ problem you’re solving nor the outcome you’re helping them achieve.
The first step to creating a program that really grabs people’s attention is in making sure your program speaks to their wants, NOT what you know they need. Look at your client’s position through their eyes, not yours. You have a very different perspective from where you are standing.
You’ve won the fight, you’re steps ahead and can see where your clients are standing in a new light, you know what they need to get ahead.

But that isn’t going to get you anywhere unless you tap into the perspective from where your client stands. They want to know you understand them and that you have the solution to their problem, that you can give them what they WANT from their point of view.
Then you can give them that AND what they need in the program itself.

Self Sabotage in your business at it’s BEST

By Jennifer Hall | Uncategorized

If you don’t get these TWO things right, you DON’T have a Coaching business or fulfilment!

Niche and Ideal Client are THE two most important aspects. If you don’t have them right, you’re prone to want to give up, throw in the towel and stamp your feet!

Struggle, frustration and tears will follow the confusion on who you serve and what you help them with.

I know what it feels like to struggle in business, to feel like every 12 hour day you pull is utterly wasted and for nothing.

Ease and flow come when you have Clarity and Alignment. When you are aligned with your purpose, money making niche and the mindset/priorities of your ideal client everything flows. Marketing, money making and FULFILMENT!

Stay tuned because in the next days I’m going to share why people are pretending to have clarity, and you don’t want to miss that!

As we said, ease and flow come when you have Clarity and Alignment. When you are aligned with your purpose, money making niche and the mindset/priorities of your ideal client everything flows. Marketing, money making and FULFILMENT! A lot of people struggle for too long on this, pretending they have clarity when they really don’t. They are NOT being honest with themselves. Why would someone do that? Well, let me lay it out for you here…

  • They might be scared that if they get the clarity they’ll no longer have an excuse to fail!
  • They’re avoiding having to invest to get the clarity they really need as they don’t see the value in it.
  • They’re scared to let go of what no longer serves them. This one is a BIG one! Holding onto what you’re comfortable with and have invested so much time in is SCARY AS HELL!
  • The struggle is comfortable, it’s all they’ve ever known – success can’t really come from EASY, can it????

YES, IT CAN! And if any of this post has nudged you to start being honest with yourself I’ve done my job for today! Success really does come easy when you know HOW!

Check your clarity today, do you really know who you’re talking to and what their pain points are specifically? OR are you feeling fluffy? Stop and check-in – this could be your make or break moment!

The Simple Mindset Shift You need to Make to Run a Successful Business

By Jennifer Hall | Business Mindset , Client Attraction , Uncategorized

shift Your mindset for success...

Today I'm talking to you about the simple mindset shift that you need to make to ensure that your business is successful!

I'm going to give an example that explains this in startup terms because it's the easiest way for me to explain this concept, but this can be applied at any stage of a business not just in a start-up.

In fact, it's really key that you keep this in mind whenever you write content in your marketing, speak to your audience or whenever you are creating a product.

who needs a mindset shift...

A problem arises when people create businesses or create products on the basis that they just enjoy doing it. For example let's use craft businesses, which seem to be very popular at the moment. A lot of craft businesses in the last year have popped out the ground like daisies because people want to turn their passion into a profitable business, but where it fails is when you are doing it for you, instead of the client.

When I talk about the fact that you can work in alignment with your purpose and you can absolutely make money from it, I truly believe that, but what I do not mean, is that you can turn any hobby or process that you want to teach into a success.

It definitely won’t be successful unless it solves a problem!

This is the key mind shift change we need to make, i.e. looking at what we do from your client's perspective instead of our own insular view.

This is why it’s so important to start with a mission that's bigger than us and to delve into why we started the business in the first place. You have to make it bigger than just you and your family and what's going on in your world otherwise it’s a very selfish point view that no one else is really interested in.

When we ask the question - ‘what is the transformation that I want to see happen in in the wider world?’  we ensure that we can help them solve the problems that 'they' have in order to help them achieve the goals that 'they' have.

its all about the client...

So whenever you go to create a product or write a piece of content marketing you really need to be looking at it through the eyes of your ideal client instead of from your perspective.

So instead of saying ‘this is my process and this is what I want to teach or take somebody through’, ask yourself:

  • What is the problem that this person has?
  • What is the goal that this person has?
  • How can I use my skills and my processes to help them achieve that goal and overcome a problem that is stopping them achieve it?

post mindset shift...

As soon as you make that shift you will find that your business will be sellable. You will be able to monetize it and to make traction because you’re  actually in demand instead of running a fun enterprise. It will still be purposeful, you can still work within your zone of genius, but use your superpowers to help rather than to pass the time!

It’s not all about the BS, it’s also about the SB!

By Jennifer Hall | Uncategorized

Can you think of a time when things got so bad or you wanted something so badly you would have paid anything to solve it?
Like if you had millions, you probably would have paid it, if you knew it would make it all better?

Well, when you have someone come into your life that shows you they can help you and make it all better, do you not do cartwheels?
Do you not throw your hands in the air in gratitude that this person has been brought into your life?
Do you not ask how much it will cost and then get shocked that they are not asking for more OR at least pray that you can muster up the money to pay them?

I did a few times. Once when my daughter was so ill I thought she was going to die.
AND every time I got stuck creating my dream. Yes, my dream is THAT important to me!!!
I made a vow when I hit a crossroads to either admit defeat and head back to 9-5 or make it happen, to MAKE IT HAPPEN!
The 9-5 wasn’t even an option anymore, and I would do and pay anything to never go back there.
I invested hefty sums that I didn’t have into coaches to help me create my dream and I didn’t flinch!

There was a time when I did flinch.
There was a time where I scowled at people for charging what I dubbed as ‘ridiculous’ amounts.
Because ‘I’ would NEVER charge that amount… where do these people get off? Besides, there is always someone doing it cheaper.

BUT those that are cheaper come at a different cost.
Those that are cheap lack a very important quality. SELF BELIEF!
Do you really want someone helping you, who is only half-sure, half-confident and half-committed?
Do you want to stay that small and learn from someone who’s happy with cheap?

I know I get my clients results and even though I charge large sums, I KNOW it’s totally worth it and I KNOW what I was willing to pay for the same result and it’s still less than what I charge!
To be fair, my sums not as large as some other coaches, but they’re rising all the time the more I get a dose of SB!

Because I believe in my results and my ability to get my clients the results, I am 100% comfortable charging for it.
Are you uncomfortable with paying it?
Well here’s the thing, you are also lacking in self-belief.
When I made my vow to make it happen no matter what, I also had to breathe in a huge gas canister of self-belief.
I had to believe in the possibility that I could do this. If I didn’t do that, I would never have thrown caution to the wind and invested.

I took 100% responsibility for my success and I knew that if I failed, it would be down to me and only me.

Make your vow to make it happen! What’s the alternative… is it pretty or is it hell? Burn the boats and make it happen!

What does it actually mean to play big?

By Jennifer Hall | Uncategorized

Well, this is so different for everyone depending on where you are in your journey.

When it comes to up-leveling we think this is only reserved for those who aren’t newbies but actually, we up-level the fastest when we’re just starting out as we try and raise ourselves up to meet those that are further along than us.

We then reach a place where we start to feel more comfortable with where we’ve got to, and we ride the wave until we realise we WANT to play bigger. It’s no longer a case of ‘need’.

Before this, we felt a needy desperation to get to a level where we feel deserving and confident to be where we are but after this, it’s a case of I WANT to go higher and I WANT to play BIG!

Big for me, in the beginning, was getting to a place of success where I could confidently say I have a profitable business and I’m helping others in the process.

Big for me once I reached that stage was then very different…

I wanted to help women at a different stage in their journey because I wanted to help them achieve bigger and different results. Because here’s the thing…

Some coaches/entrepreneurs would have us think that we can leap straight to a bigger stage and skip out the steps in between! But just as you’re not going to become a 6/7 figure coach over night, you also can’t run before you can walk. You HAVE TO up-level in increments otherwise you end up pinging backwards to where you started with a huge bump!
In order to get my clients different and bigger results I have to pick them up at a different stage in their journey, they have to be further along!

Yes, we help our clients leap further than they could on their own but just as they need to be patient we also need to be patient with ourselves.

We are where we are and playing bigger is different for everyone.

Organising this up and coming summit is a physical representation of my uplevel. I reached out to people like Marie Forleo & Pam Grout both of which were sadly a no BUT I didn’t let that stop me and I continued to reach out to many legends, big names and underground genius and I now have people like Regan Hillyer, Kat Loterzo, Heather Gray and Jess Lorimer attending MY summit!

I need to tell you, it was f-ing scary to reach out to these big names and face rejection, it took some ovaries of steel to even ask them! Getting over the ‘who do I think I am’ gremlin was a big task.

Having the courage to face rejection from my own community when I asked my Facebook group who wants to stay and then removing those who didn’t voice it was HUGE!

Before this, playing big meant asking people to leave of their own accord and having maybe 2 people disappear and then dealing with that rejection from those 2 people was huge and horrible. But those small steps allowed me to take the bigger ones that I have in recent months.

We are all on this journey and none of us got to where we are currently are without taking those small steps. Those small steps are CRITICAL to your progress, so don’t ever stop taking them. And give yourself a break. Acknowledge where you are, keep your eyes on where you want to be and then keep taking those steps. It takes time, it takes patience and it takes the willingness to push through the resistance and be uncomfortable in the process.

If you’re at the very beginning of your journey and you’re desperate to feel that confidence and get to a place of excitement instead of struggle and frustration then my best advice is to get support! Invest in someone (it doesn’t have to be me) but invest in someone who can show you what steps you need to take and who will push you outside your comfort zone to get to that place. Because it’s only through doing that we’ll ever achieve that confidence and have someone who can get you moving instead of spinning wheels will relieve that frustration.

How should you raise engagement in your Facebook group?

By Jennifer Hall | Uncategorized

People buy from leaders, experts and authorities not followers! You will sell best, easiest and with most integrity in your OWN group… that’s why it’s soooo important to make your group a priority and step up and lead and ride through the crickets until they chirp!

Give your group a purpose! – What’s in it for them, why are they there? Communicate that clearly in a pinned post, welcome video and in the description.

Be clear on your expectations of the members. the type of person the group is for in terms of who they are and what they want from their journey at the moment! And make sure they know that you expect them to engage so that they can build relationships with the right people and take the most value. Again communicate that in pinned post, welcome video and in the description.

Give them the rules and your values and make it clear in the pinned post, welcome video and in the description. When you do this, it gives them clear simple boundaries and backs up your expectations. Those who lead, lead with strength. Waffly boundaries leave room for behaviour!

Use the Facebook ‘join questions’ to set the tone and don’t let them ‘in’ unless they answer them. Do you want someone in your group that can’t be bothered to answer 3 simple questions before they’re even in?

Treat it like it’s your house, be real about it…

Are you a different person in your house than to anywhere else?

Would you stand for people coming in and not taking their shoes off?

Equally would you ‘shout’ at them for not doing so?

Would you accept someone coming in, sitting down on your sofa, not make eye contact and refuse to talk to you? – Tag them in the posts and ask them direct questions.

Would you allow people in your house who found it acceptable to behave in ways that are not in alignment with your values?

Make your members feel WELCOME! Celebrate them joining the group, joining your LIVE, adding value that’s relevant to the joint mission or the people of the group – make them feel a special valued member of your community.
How can you do this… talk to them directly and build a relationship, show you genuinely care and are interested in them. When you genuinely resonate with their share… make sure they know about it.

Use the Facebook ‘join questions’ to set the tone and don’t let them ‘in’ unless they answer them. Do you want someone in your group that can’t be bothered to answer 3 simple questions before they’re even in?

Share genuine value and offer them value that they won’t find anywhere else… don’t share the same stuff they can get in other places from you. Your group needs to be exclusive and they need a reason to stay in there and engage.

Commit to your group, set scheduled times for showing up and then show up and make sure it’s helping them get to where they want to go.
Don’t hold back from giving them ‘the how’, this will tease and frustrate your audience if you just keep telling them where they want to get to without helping them get there. It also won’t build trust and will actually stump sales if you withhold your gold!

Be a Leader! Define the mission, get them on board with the mission and get the wrong people outta there!
Don’t shrink back when you hear crickets… go harder, shake them up and be courageous! They need you to show them the way.

Be relevant and have a purpose! Whenever you post or go live ask yourself… why should my audience bother reading and listening… what’s in it for them?
Is it really speaking to their desires? Then make that point blindingly obvious in your headline.
Also ask yourself, what do you want your members to do with the information… what’s the call to action?
Ask them to do something and encourage them to talk about it… in the cases when they don’t, ask specific people directly by tagging them and talk directly to them!

Run a FREE group challenge that’s in line with your mission, this gets everyone excited and really helps to build community as everyone shares and supports!

Ask them what they want, but give them options!
The ‘what do you want?’ type questions just encourage more crickets… point out the pain points or aspiration points/ areas where they want results so that it gives them a starting point and they don’t have to think too hard.

Ask them about them! They need to know you care about their needs and that you want to help them. If they don’t answer they probably feel disconnected like it’s not for them… TAG THEM IN!

Ask them to leave respectfully if the group is irrelevant to them.

Make your group the one group that’s different to the majority by making it a priority.

Think about where your members are coming from… if you’re funnelling them in from other fb groups, if you had built a good relationship with them beforehand, they’re more likely to be engaged when they come in.
Same for however else they come in. If you haven’t built that relationship with them before they come in, you’re going to need to that sharpish right now!

I want to say this again… give your group a purpose… this means getting clarity on your mission and the tangible outcomes you help your clients with and lead with a STRONG CLEAR MESSAGE that speaks to the common mission.
